Brilliant Brushes. Art for Everyone.
Brilliant Brushes. Art for Everyone.
My hope is to create safe spaces for disenfranchised youth in black and brown communities, marginalized LGBTQ youth and youth within Montgomery County to express themselves through art. Cultivate a sense of belonging and community amongst youth often considered outcasts. My goal is to be a diverse as possible, serving every ethnicity, but specifically, providing free to low cost art classes to individuals who may not necessarily have access to art or creative expression. Our county is a mixing bowl of people from every part of the world, and facilitating digital art classes which support social distancing, community engagement, enrichment acquisitions, expressing themselves creatively, in these trying times of isolation. I will provide the lessons, the materials and supplies to youth who can not afford the full fee per class, through a small scholarship made possible by the funding in part donors. I feel like our community will benefit from having an outlet, where the youth can express themselves in a positive manner in which they will learn about color, space, shapes, shadows, do artist studies on artists, including Basquiat, Picasso, DaVinci, and some local artists like Grace Hartigan, Thomas Cromwell Corner, and Raoul Middleman. Mastering the elements of forms, shape, and lighting in space, serve as an important part of developing a student’s artistic voice and establish a visual discipline that will last a lifetime.
